Pomodoro Method

The Pomodoro Method

The Pomodoro Method is a time management technique that boosts productivity by breaking work into focused intervals.

This method helps reduce procrastination, increase focus, and prevent burnout by encouraging structured work and regular breaks. Personally, I’m not sure I agree with the regular breaks thing; catch a wave and ride it out, that’s what I believe.

Pomodoro Method Process

  • Choose a task to work on.
  • Set a timer for 25 minutes and focus entirely on the task.
  • Take a short 5-minute break when the timer ends.
  • Repeat the cycle four times, then take a longer break (15–30 minutes).
  • Continue until the task is complete.

Origins

The Pomodoro Method was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s while he was a university student. He struggled with focusing on his studies and sought a way to improve his productivity, eventually using a tomato-shaped kitchen timer to break his work into focused intervals, typically 25 minutes, which he named “pomodoros” (Italian for “tomato”)
