In addition to the McArthur Park by James Last & Derek Watkins, James Last and Derek Watkins collaborated on several memorable performances including:
- “My Way”: Recorded during James Last’s European tour in 2000, showcasing Watkins’ flugelhorn and trumpet skills.
- “Windmills of Your Mind”: A soulful performance with Watkins and Chuck Findley.
These collaborations beautifully blend Last’s orchestral arrangements with Watkins’ exceptional trumpet artistry.
Sadly, James Last, in early 2015, announced that his retirement from touring would take place following a final “goodbye tour”, which commenced in Germany and ended in London. Last died less than three months later, on June 9, 2015, in Florida at the age of 86.
Derek Watkins died on March 22, 2013, from cancer, at the age of 68.
